C. Drew Stahl Distinguished Achievement Award in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering
Matt Vezza was named vice president and general manager of Ovintiv’s Anadarko and Rockies operating area in June 2020. He is responsible for guiding the development of Ovintiv’s Oklahoma and Rockies assets.
Vezza joined Ovintiv from Newfield Exploration Company, where he worked for seven years. While at Newfield, Vezza served in various leadership roles, ranging from general manager for the Rockies Business Unit to regional vice president, overseeing the company’s activities in the Anadarko, Arkoma, Williston, and Uinta basins.
Previously, Vezza was with Marathon Oil Company for sixteen years, where he was responsible for the company’s Wyoming assets and the Piceance Basin. He also served on Marathon’s worldwide strategic planning staff. He started his career with Marathon as a completion engineer and progressively moved through the organization in various technical and managerial roles in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Vezza is a Society of Petroleum Engineers member and holds a B.S. in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Penn State.
